Elizabeth had such a ball voicing baby Maggie’s first word that she made a second guest appearance on The Simpsons, this time as herself, during the show’s season finale.

In “Krusty Gets Cancelled,” Bart and Lisa spearhead the star-studded Krusty Comeback Special in an attempt to resuscitate Krusty the Clown’s career after the cancellation of his eponymous TV show. (They get the idea after seeing photos of Krusty with celebrity friends lining a wall of his home, including one of him in costume as Mark Antony opposite Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra. Richard Burton who?)

Elizabeth’s agent declines Bart and Lisa’s invitation to appear on the special. “Miss Taylor,” he says, interrupting Elizabeth as she polishes one of her Oscars, “a couple of grade school kids wanted you to be on a Krusty special. I told them to buzz off.” “Good,” she replies.

The star-studded show, which, ironically, includes a performance of “Send in the Clowns,” which Elizabeth famously sang in A Little Night Music (1977), attracts the likes of Johnny Carson, Bette Midler, and Hugh Hefner. Elizabeth, polishing the Krupp diamond with a toothbrush while watching the show, says, “I’ve got to fire that agent.”
